I’m Brandi Villani. I’m a Northeastern gal, best known for being a local Realtor in my quaint little New England town of Bethel, Connecticut and surrounding communities. I moved around quite a bit as a child, so although Bethel is my current home base, I have to take the time to acknowledge that I don’t really have a home town. For those of you who are also gypsies, it’s OK. I got you. It’s what you come from, not where, that counts. Who raised you? Who were your role models? Who did you emulate? My identity has morphed over the years from daughter, to orphan. From homeless to housewife. From divorcĂ©e to entrepreneur. None of these things ever defined me so much as being a mother does today. So when people ask me what I do, I’m a mother first. My children have changed me, and they continue to challenge me every day. They don’t know the enormity of it yet, but at some point I will tell them how they saved my life. More on that later.
For me, writing is my therapy. For many years I kept my emotions locked up, scared to feel, and even more afraid to share anything beyond a smile with anyone. The truth of it is, life is a beautiful mess. It can be unkind and unforgiving. We make plans and they don’t work out. We make promises we don’t keep. We let people down and we get let down. But, if everything always went our way, we would never learn, we would never grow and we would certainly never find out there was something better just around the next bend. So, in the spirit of courage and vulnerability, this is where my story begins.
